Spoonflower Fabric8 Contest : Retro Tech

Project No.7 : DIY Lamp Shade Design

I love projects. I love them so much I usually have a million of them I want to do and never enough time to get to them, plus I tend to get distracted by just about everything. This was a super easy project though, it only took a few minutes, so time and focus weren't too much of a problem. And I feel productive!

I actually bought this lamp from Target as a knock-off of one of these babies. Overall, I really like it, but the shade was pretty boring. My new house is great, but still a little bare (as you can see by the lack of art on the walls - so many projects to get to!) so any addition with a little interest is welcome.

All I needed for this project was a colorful marker that writes on fabric. I'm sure there are lots of options out there, but I used a Galaxy Marker from American Crafts. I just drew a simple design on a plain white shade and viola! A whole new shade!

I swear, it even shines brighter now.

Mother's Day Card

Sputnik

I just love these sputnik chandeliers. Definitely getting one for my new place. On the lower side of the pricing scale of course. (I love everything you do Jonathan Adler, but I just can't justify $1400 on a light fixture. But it sure looks amazing!)
